From past experience, I know that if you cannot practice well between lessons it is almost better not to practice at all. Most children need an assistant in the form of an adoring adult in order to practice. A regular practice schedule is the best for small children. They grow to expect practice every day at the same time. Practice then takes on the quality of inevitability. It becomes part of the routine. I tell my students Every day you brush your teeth, every day you practice. One little boy proudly confessed that he never brushes his teeth!

Children also need to repeat what they already know. Repetition is the only way to learn something thoroughly. We forget that children learn gradually. They cannot produce perfection as they learn. Current thinking among physiologists such as Wilson is that we begin to learn to make complicated moves rather laboriously - working out the details step by step, making corrections when we observe our own mistakes, and consciously and deliberately establishing patterns of movements that eventually become less tentative and finally become smooth and secure. Dr Suzuki was famous for his saying Knowledge is not skill. Knowledge plus ten thousand times is skill! It is up to parents to continually find ways of making practice a joy. I found games with my own children worked and we counted repetitions until we got to 10,000. Needless to say this did not work as they got older and once they understood how a passage should be played and then played it well, couldn’t see the necessity for repetitions. Not every day, but most days, we managed to keep up the repetitions. Just think of walking and how many times a baby has to try and try again before they get it right and keep walking long after they get it right.

A good teacher will have the responsibility of establishing goals for the student’s lessons and these goals need to be specific and well understood by both the student and the parent. Goals that are specific , and reasonably hard but attainable, will produce much better performance than too easy goals or a general goal to do one’s best. I remember when my eldest daughter Stephanie was learning Minuet 2 by Bach and she had difficulty at age 4 getting her little fingers to play the arpeggio section to begin with. Even though the piece is a page long, I got her to only play the first seven notes, 100 times. I then asked her to close her eyes and while holding her violin to put her fingers in the correct positions on the fingerboard. We played a game guessing if her finger positions were individually correct before she checked them by playing singular notes. This helped with her confidence. I have to say, I tried the same method on my youngest daughter Imogen and twenty minutes into the practice on a hot January morning she flung both the violin and bow at me. I managed to catch it just in time. It took me several days to recover by which time I had learned not to push! What works with one doesn’t always work with another.

I think as a parent you need to know your children before you start an instrument with them. They are all different and they deserve your love first and foremost. Maria Montessori says The adult’s idea that freedom consists in minimizing duties and obligations must be rejected. The foundation of education must be based on the following facts: That the joy of the child is in accomplishing things great for his age; that the real satisfaction of the child is to give maximum effort to the task at hand; that happiness consists in well directed activity of body and mind in the way of excellence; and that true freedom has, as its objective, service to society and to mankind consistent with the progress and happiness of the individual. Emerson says The secret of education Lies in respecting the student and Shakespeare said Love comforteth like sunshine after rain.

When my son Miles was three, I decided to start him on piano. I held his elbow and his fingers and taught him how to play ‘twinkle twinkle little star’. I thought that if I teach him in the correct way by guiding his fingers to play each note perfectly , since he had never done it incorrectly, he will never learn how to play badly . From what I had read in all the teaching manuals, it seemed inevitable that he would fall into the pattern that I had established. By the way, psychologists cal this external manipulation of the passive learner . How wrong I was……after several weeks of perfect practice I let him give a mini-concert to his grand-parents at their house. Left to his own devices, he tried every bad method of using his fingers on the keys possible. I have since discovered that what I had engaged him in was passive practice and when he performed he proved how passive his learning had really been. The truth is you cannot teach a passive learner. According to Holding, 1965, Knowledge of the correct response is incomplete if there is no opportunity to define it against the alternatives. We cannot be said to understand red if we have never identified other colors. This is why I constantly tell parents to take their children to live music events. This is why I started KINDERJAZZ. You can check us out at www.kinderjazz.com http://www.kinderjazz.com Children learn with all their senses and music needs to be in 3D. Children miss out on basic cognitive development without this experience.

You can purchase her children’s music CDs from www.kinderjazz.com http://www.kinderjazz.com and read more about how to motivate your children to keep practising and how important it is to get your children into music. Music is a fundamental part of education as it develops the right side of the brain which is sadly neglected in our current education system. It’s by far the most important part. All the initial steps for starting your own business can easily be financed with the funds obtained from a home equity line of credit and the flexibility for repayment will provide you with the ease you need to concentrate specifically on your business instead on repaying the loan.

The characteristics of home equity lines of credit are perfect for this purpose.

In this article we will analyze the concepts of home equity and home equity lines of credit and explain why these particular lines of credit are perfect tools for starting new businesses and what the benefits that these financial products provide are.

Defining Equity

Equity is the difference between the current value of your property and any pecuniary obligations that it is guaranteeing. These obligations can be liens, mortgages, etc. The amount of available equity is obtained by subtracting the amount of the outstanding obligations to the valuation price of the property.

Thus, if you own a property that is worth $120,000 and your current mortgage balance is around $70,000 that means that you still have $50,000 of available equity on your home that you can use for obtaining a loan or line of credit and use it for any purpose you can think of. Following we will analyze home equity lines of credit for starting businesses.

Lines Of Credit for Businesses

Lines of credit are revolving sources of funds that can provide you with all the finance you need for starting a business if they are based on sufficient equity. The idea is that you are granted credit up to a certain amount limit which is guaranteed with your home equity. In the above example you would count with up to $50,000 on your line of credit to start your own business.

There is no need for you to withdraw the whole amount and as long as you don’t request money, the line of credit won’t generate interests. You’ll only have to pay a small maintenance fee.

Moreover, say you withdraw $10,000, the interest rate will only be charged over that $10,000. Once you repay the amount, it will stop generating interests and you can withdraw that amount or any amount up to the credit limit whenever you want.

As regards repayment, it is also very simple. You will only be required to repay a minimum amount every month, just like with credit cards. This minimum almost always consists on the interests and sometimes a small portion of the principal. This provides you with a lot of flexibility.

When starting a business you can’t be suffering pressure from lenders because you need to concentrate on generating income rather than repaying a loan. Thus, home equity lines of credit provide you with all the finance you need and don’t asphyxiate your business with high monthly payments.

Once your running business generates enough income for you to cope with higher payments, you can start repaying the principal at your best convenience. Moreover, you can easily fix the interest rate (that is otherwise always variable) and turn the home equity line of credit into a home equity loan.

It is the time of new beginnings. The time that has been ordained since the beginning of time in which God’s holy love would make itself felt everywhere as a stirring within the human heart to go deeper within itself, to find the source of love and the source of peace within. It is the time of the birth of the soul within human consciousness, a birth that will create out of the ordinary what shall become a sacred humanity.

This time has been foretold from the beginning, bringing with it a transition into a new consciousness that has not been possible before - a collective awakening brought about by the advent of greater light. This light brings to each soul a sacred knowledge of its oneness with God and with every other soul. Thus, does the age of separation come to an end and a new era begin in which love can be given greater importance and the life of the soul come into full flowering. It is not here in its fullness yet, but its beginnings can be felt as the hunger for truth, for love, and for spiritual knowledge produced by the quickening of light within body, mind and emotions. And though forces of darkness are still present on both a global and personal level, the quickening of human consciousness still moves forward and cannot be prevented.

Each soul here today has chosen to be here, has chosen to participate in this profound transition that will affect every life on earth. Each soul, in its deepest heart, knows of the change that is coming and that is already present. For the signs of it, though invisible for the most part to outer eyes, can be felt as an inner vibration, an inner current of truth and of knowledge, and, indeed, as an inner calling.

The collective Whole of which each soul is a part is the bearer of light for the creation of a sacred humanity, and each soul that chooses to deliberately align with light contributes to that greater Whole, just as each one who turns away from it detracts from it. We are all one, and in that oneness there is no life that is truly apart, even though some may choose the path of separation. Therefore, be glad, for the light that arises will bring humanity to a consciousness of oneness with all of life, and the earth into a new state of being as a sacred and holy planet.

Many inexperienced speakers rush their presentations because of that fear and dread of standing up in front of a live audience. They cannot wait to bring it to a close.

As long as the message has been delivered and reinforced (usually by distracting and overloaded PowerPoint slides) that’s the job done. Thinking about how to win over the audience is the last thing on people’s mind but it is absolutely crucial.

It’s vital to get the audience on board immediately, otherwise they’ll have switched off in the first 5 minutes; that should be regarded as a catastrophe, but regrettably it is alarmingly common.

In recent years I have made a point of asking people what they thought about a presentation that we have all sat through and it is truly horrifying how many people very quickly went off into their own dream world, so dull was the presenter.

It is not uncommon for 100 people to sit through an hour’s presentation and only 10 to be still listening after a few minutes - imagine all that lost working time.

What are the steps to winning over an audience?

Good audience reconnaissance is never wasted. Find out who they are and what are their expectations.

Imagine a politician addressing an audience of business people all of whom are running small independent operations and that politician’s opening remarks being ‘Red tape is strangling this country and impeding the ability of our entrepreneurs to thrive. We will reduce this burden at a stroke by taking the following actions …’.

So long as the key message was congruent and beneficial, the audience would be convinced. The rest of the speech will now be so much easier to deliver.

Compare this to a speaker with an audience comprised solely of people working within finance departments being greeted with the remarks ‘this initiative will allow us to reduce those working in finance areas by 50%’. It’s not surprising that this is resisted at all costs!

Secondly - when you deliver this audience winning statement look them straight in the eye as you say it and see how the audience rapport builds as they look back at you. Feel the bond forging between the two of you as they do.

Thirdly - when you have finished delivering that winning statement pause briefly to allow the audience to absorb the statement and quite possibly shake their head in agreement.

Fourthly, rhetorical questions is a useful technique to passively engage the audience.

Finally, and for speeches lasting over 10 minutes; use humour to lighten the mood. This will ensure that the attention of the audience never drifts off.

Knowing that you have won an audience over is one of the best feelings in the speaking world.

Men usually don’t care about our skin. It’s a simple fact.

We tend to think we are made from an indestructible material, and that our skin is made of iron. And so, we go on in life, shaving everyday, standing in extreme weather on our vacations, and eating junk food. But hey, our skin is actually deteriorating each passing day, and it’s not a matter of attitude, “machismo”, or whatever you’d like to call it. It’s a matter of health. And in today’s world men facial care is even a matter of social life.

You may not know this, but we men, have very sensitive skin. I used to ignore this also, until I notice my skin was getting too dry, now I have to use baby’s soap because the doctor told me that my skin type is very sensitive. He went on saying that a large portion of men have this same type of skin, and it is due to bad eating habits, lack of exercise and basic men facial care treatment . But what is most disturbing is that most men also ignore this, or they do not take proper action.

So what is proper action?

There are certain habits to take in consideration when you start caring about your facial skin care. Here are some tips that will help you get started in men facial care:

* Drink water, a lot. Water is good for overall health; it is a common advice to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

* Buy vitamin supplements. To have a healthy skin you should include in your diet multi-vitamins. Particularly helpful to your skin is the Vitamin E.

* Exfoliate your face twice a week. Exfoliation helps removing the dead cells on your facial skin, the result will be a skin free of impurities.

* Protect yourself from the sun. Keep in mind doing it in a healthy way, for example if you’re staying too much time outdoors with a hot weather. Don’t use too much, because sun blockers contain chemicals. Nowadays even some moisturizers have sun protection.

Remember this is all men facial care basic stuff. People have different skin types that have their own issues. You should visit your doctor if you notice anything strange in your skin. However this tips will help you in having a healthier, better looking skin. Bottom line is, start taking care. The web has plenty of information regarding these issues and is a good place to start.

Would you like to receive the magic of love? Are you willing to give it? Try this: For one day, consciously make an effort to be loving or kind to everyone you see, with no expectations of receiving anything in return.

For example, compliment, acknowledge, or smile at people at work, home, on the street, and in the stores. Notice how you feel at the end of the day. Your heart will probably feel warmer and bigger. The loving action can make their day as well as yours. It is likely that the people you touch with the magic of love will pass it on to others. You will never know for sure how many people’s lives you have touched with these simple, free, kind acts. Just trust that you are making a difference.

It worked for my client Jerry, a thirty-six-year-old computer engineer. He was surprised when I suggested that he try the experiment. The lonely, single man was complaining to me that people are so mean and nasty. Obviously, Jerry had low self-esteem and poor relationship skills.

I said, Jerry, are you willing to go to work tomorrow with a smile, and acknowledge and compliment people? I do not mean to make up remarks. Just look for something true and positive to say to your boss and co-workers. Notice how you feel and how they respond.

The following week, Jerry walked into my office with a smile on his face. That was the first time I saw that happy expression since his first counseling session. As soon as he sat down, Jerry exclaimed, It worked, Helene! It was amazing! I did what you suggested and everyone responded back in a positive way. The whole office felt different, and now I look forward to going to work. That is a miracle!

I congratulated Jerry for offering the magic of love, and acknowledged his courage and progress. This seemed to be a turning point in his life. I continued to help him feel good about himself with the HART process (Holistic And Rapid Transformation), and improve his communication skills. Before long, he started to date and enjoy social activities.

I have also had great success with the magic of love. When I lived in the country, I used to take regular walks on the dirt road. I smiled and thought the words Bless you as I waved at every car that drove by. Almost everyone responded by sending me back a warm smile and wave. It felt so good to spread caring. What a wonderful world this would be if everyone realized the importance of and took the time to spread the magic of love.

Child Tax Credit - Are You Eligible And How Much Can You Claim?

In our hectic world today, raising kids can be difficult, particularly when funds are tight. Children are always going to need something, whether it be new clothes or supplies for a school project. Figuring out how to find the money can sometimes be just about impossible. However, there are government benefits that are available to struggling and low income households that may help to lessen the burden in situations like these.

One of these benefits is the Child Tax Credit, which was created and intended to lend a helping hand to families and caregivers of school age children and college students to ensure that the children can get the things they need. This will be especially helpful to low income parents who have children younger than 16 or a young person attending school full time.

This particular Tax Credit is based upon the number of children in your home and also takes into account the total household earnings. As well as getting an overall tax credit for the family, you also can claim a specific amount ofchild benefit for every child who lives in your home. You don’t need to be related to the child or children, but you must be the primary caregiver and the children have to reside in your house.

Claiming the Child Tax Credit is extremely simple. When you apply initially, you will have to order a claim pack. You will also need to give proof of your identity, which can be as easy as providing your national insurance number. Once you’re approved, your Child Tax Credit can be renewed by mail or telephone. This is done each year and you’ll be notified when it’s time for you to renew. It’s important for you to report any changes in your situation such as even the slightest changes in family size and earnings. If you fail to report changes, you might wind up having to pay back the tax credits that you’ve received.

You can receive Child Tax Credits in numerous ways. You can have the child allowance paid on a weekly or monthly basis, and it can be transferred into any bank account you indicate. Children’s Tax Credits needs to be transferred to the main caretaker’s account and can be received by cheque, which will be sent to the address indicated on your application. The child benefit can be claimed additionally with the Working Tax Credit, a government benefit if either you or your partner are working.

If you don’t get approved these benefit entitlements, or disagree with your tax credit calculation, you have to right to appeal a tax credit decision. This must be done within 30 days of your denial notification.

Google surprised the world by announcing on October 9 it would acquire California-based video website YouTube for a stock-for-stock transaction of US$1.6bn. This amount is the highest Google has paid for a nifty website. But what makes this acquisition unique is that this is the highest price ever paid for a user-generated Web 2.0 content site.

YouTube simply adds to the Tribe of Google which boasts of areas as diverse as blogging, personalized search, satellite imagery, image management and cellular phone technology! The price tag of $1.6 billion has raised several eyebrows, and Google’s economic wisdom is being challenged. However, what this deal means to web 2.0(a system of collaboration-based web development) has been widely ignored.

YouTube - a true Web 2.0 Company

YouTube, founded in 2005 by Chad Hurley and others, is in the genre of a true Web 2.0 media website consisting entirely of user-generated content. It ranks fourth in the sector after other US-based firms MySpace, Facebook and Wikipedia.

YouTube has played a major role in creating the new clip culture . It is estimated to serve about a 100 million video clips every day to about 72 million unique visitors!

Under the new deal, YouTube is expected to retain its separate legal entity, with Google continuing to concentrate on its own Google Video website as a separate operation. But the deal with YouTube will increase its reach into the user-generated media content market. In this market, there is a clear winner in [the] networking and social networking side of video , Google chief executive Eric Schmidt said. UBS analyst Benjamin Schachter commented: Large advertisers are looking to spend more money with Google. Video is a major focus, and YouTube increases its inventory.

Where is the money?

What exactly is the business model behind the purchase? The official line from Google is that YouTube acquisition is part of Google’s ongoing mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. However, it is premised that Google plans to leverage its advertiser relationships - a reference to its strategy of combining Google Adsense for Video with Google Video.

The basic theme seems to be that YouTube will benefit from Google’s ad platform when it comes to monetization. Google search will also improve the search experience for YouTube users.

Copyright worries

Copyright concerns are another area which will keep Google and its lawyers really busy. There have been several reports of users viewing illegally copied music videos, films and TV programs via the YouTube network. Critics have even drawn parallels to the now-redundant Napster network, despite having a far better record.

To its credit, YouTube has struck deals with Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS), Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group, in an effort to reduce copyright lawsuits.

What next?

This deal is a great one for YouTube, and hopefully a good strategic move for Google. The web community is anxiously asking the question: who is next? Of course, the Facebook-Yahoo! deal looks more likely to happen now. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Finding adequate childcare has become increasingly difficult in the bay area. Population increase has made finding services such as childcare difficult. Three Silicon Valley businessmen faced with this problem came up with an innovative solution. Out of their frustrations with the usual time consuming methods of finding good day care for their own children, a new concept embodied in their company, DayCareVideo.com emerged.

Three South Bay professionals Richard, Scott and Howard came up with a unique answer to finding quality childcare. They experienced the time consuming process of looking for child care for their own children. They had looked for child care individually, going to many different homes and centers. Talking about their problems, they decided collectively there must be a better way. In the discussion of solutions, it was confirmed that the available technologies were not being efficiently used to eliminate the time consuming process of having to go from one childcare provider to another. They believed that it would be much more efficient if parents who were busy professionals could go to one location and view slides or videos of available childcare providers.

The team believed that if local childcare providers could be presented this way, parents could then have an opportunity to select those specific providers they felt could meet their requirements. This would give them an immense break of time and expense from having to phone, drive and interview providers all over the East, West and South Bay areas. Richard, Howard and Scott took their idea and have made it into a practical business. DayCareVideo.com offers an extensive and growing list of childcare providers on videotape. Subscribers to this service can make an appointment with them and have them come to your home or business and show you videos of the providers.

These videos show facilities locations, give information on programs and discuss the philosophy of the different services their Videos answer questions and makes referrals to those childcare providers that their clients are interested in.

This service has also proven itself very popular with employers. They can offer this service as part of their employee benefit package. Employers find that this is a very popular part of the packages for new employees who come from other cities and areas. Many employees coming to the area with their families use this service for its cost effectiveness. Established employees starting new families find it very useful for locating services. This benefit also helps the employer by reducing the amount of time employees are away from the work place finding childcare services. Lost man-hour’s can seriously affect the efficiency of companies.

Using DayCareVideo.com’s services can be one of the ways in which employers can reduce employee absenteeism. Contracting the services of DayCareVideo.com gives the employer a progressive image, one that enhances its stature, in an era where employees through their unions and other organizations like the National Organization for Women have emphasized employers to be more responsiveness to the childcare problem.

Richard Robinson, DayCareVideo.com’s http://DayCareVideo.com’s founder states We don’t want to compete with established childcare providers, we want to enhance the field by offering a service that makes the selection of childcare a more informed and efficient process .

Hi friend,

I have something to share with you, today.

Throughout the period of striving for financial freedom in your life, I believe you’ve more or less, met with this really deep, hurting feeling called…

Stress.

Or you can also call it Grief(which I prefer more, and will explain why in a while).

And if you really understand it, this could be ONE of the most MEANINGFUL emails you’ve ever read.

I hope it’ll help you greatly:

Whenever stress hits you Seth, no matter if it’s a pressuring feeling you’ve gotten from feeling envy, feeling hurt from emotions, or feeling painful from what you’ve failed to achieve –

What is the first thought that comes to your mind?

What is the REAL feeling you get and want to express?

What is the next action you want to take?

Is it, I am such a…failure.

Is it, Why, why did this happen on me always?

Or Is it, I had enough…I’m GIVING UP?

When you get stressed up, is it an experience you least wanted to have?

Today, whether you try to do something you shouldn’t do just to NOT feel stress, or you are feeling stress and you WANT to stop it all the time,

You’ll begin to love stress, or better if we call it Grief , and you’d instead start accepting this feeling to stay.

Let me explain.

If you would like to feel grief positively, how would you ‘treat’ it?

If I told you that *feeling grief* can be the MOST POWERFUL state of mind that someone can have,

Now, how would you think about it?

A young man was walking alone in a megamall, walking through beautiful, luxurious clothing shops.

He walked passed Padini, ZARA, G2000, Hugo, and eventually stops suddenly.

In front of him, is Versace, with a shiny transparent glassed booth with an expensive yet grand, elegant looking shirt.

At that moment, this young man felt grief in his heart. He feels the feeling when you feel the deepest stress.

Even though he truly wants that Versace shirt, it was just too expensive for him to afford as a low salary employee.

He had always thought of living a life of a rich man, to have what he WANTS, to be able to afford that Versace shirt without feeling that feeling he’s getting.

If only, if only I could… he thought.

Right on that second, this young man has got the MOST POWERFUL state flowing in his mind and body.

The MOST POWERFUL feeling, ever.

He could’ve done things impossible to be done in his life or other human beings on earth right at that moment.

It is the source of never-ending STRENGTH being flushed out like the strongest flood ever occured in his heart.

Can you feel it?

Can you feel the deep, strong pressure in your heart turn into a sudden feeling of POWER right now?

Keep that feeling in mind.

And when grief ever visits you again, turn it into your greatest source of strength.

Call it grief for stress has always been perspected as an excuse subconsciously to weaken yourself, from people.

Now the question I have for you is, will stress ever appear in your life again?

Perhaps you’re having one of the sweetest smiles on your face right at this moment.

Have a fabulous day.
